2022 Impact Statement

2022: The Foundation continued its community mission, partnerships and scholarships.

  • Black History and Heart Health month event on 2/19/22: 200 hygiene bags each filled toiletry items (lotion, bar soap, deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrush, lip balm, washcloth) as well as mask packets (50 count each), hand sanitizer, tissue packets, first aid kits, nail clippers and razors/shaving cream to benefit the homeless and other displaced individuals. Provided access for COVID vaccinations/boosters, health information, housing information and books/school supplies. Also provided snacks as well as gift cards for Black History bingo and backpacks for the health obstacle courses. Partnered with other nonprofits who provided socks, toiletry items and food kits.
  • Virtual Community Health Seminar on 4/2/22: Speakers on 1) Establishing a new normal after COVID (Dr. S. Dark-Goodeaux), 2) Occupational Therapy aspects to improve health in the pandemic (C. Jones), 3) Use of EAP benefits post-pandemic (S. Blount) , and 4) Self Care post-pandemic (Dr. M Brown).
  • Scholarship awarded to 1 college student for the 2022-23 scholastic year totaling $1000.
  • Family Resource Day for Angeles House for homeless families in Los Angeles, CA on 7/23/22 – Donation of 100 backpacks filled with 200 pencils, 200 pens, 100 highlighters, 100 erasers, 100 sharpeners, 100 glue sticks, 100 pair scissors, 75 100-pack of index cards, 75 binders, 75 markers, 75 24-count crayons, 100 composition books, 75 rolls of tape, 100 spinners and 100 mask packets (50 count each). Also donated clothing and shoes, 50 hygiene kits, 20 baby supply kits, as well as 200 lunches and $300 in gift cards.
  • Union Missionary Baptist Church in Los Angeles, CA on 7/30/22: Donation of 75 school supply filled backpacks (150 pencils, 150 pens, 75 erasers, 75 sharpeners, 75 highlighters, 75 glue sticks, 75 scissors, 60 binders, 60 markers, 75 composition books, 50 24-crayon packs, 75 index cards packs, 50 rolls of tape). Also contributed books, spinners and mask packets (50 count each).
  • The following organizations and schools received supplies donations on 8/12/22:
    • Amino Compton Charter School: 50 backpack filled with 50 binders,
      50 folders, 50 notebooks, 100 pens, 100 pencils, 50 highlighters, 50 glue sticks, 50 scissors, and 50 erasers.
    • Ray Avenue Elementary: 25 backpacks, 50 folders, 35 2-3rd grade supplies pouches ( 2 pencil, sharpener, eraser, scissor, highlighter, 1 10-ct color pencil pack, and bookmark), 25 K-1st grade supplies packs (2 pencils, 1 pack 20-ct crayons, sharpener, eraser, scissor, highlighter, and bookmark), 25 10-count packs of colored pencils, 25 20-count of crayons and 10 5-inch binders.
    • Black Public Defenders Association: 25 backpacks, 50 folders, 50 spiral notebooks, 25 10-count markers, 25 20-count crayons, 50 supplies packs for 4th-12th graders (2 pens, 2 pencils, sharpener, eraser, scissor, highlighter, and bookmark), and 300 rolls of tape.
    • First Holy Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Los Angeles, CA on 8/20/22: Donation of 175 school supply filled backpacks (350 pencils, 350 pens, 175 erasers, 175 sharpeners, 175 highlighters, 175 glue sticks, 175 scissors, 150 binders, 75 8-ct markers, 175 composition books, 50 crayon packs, 25 dividers).
    • Health & Wellness event with Project Educate in Los Angeles, CA on 9/24/22: Personal hygiene supplies including 100 hygiene bags (lotion, bar soap, deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrush, washcloth and nail clippers) , 100 hand sanitizers, and 1000 masks as well as provided lunch, snacks and beverages.
    • Donation to the toy-giveaway at Union Missionary Baptist Church in Los Angeles, CA on 12/17/22: $400.

Donation totals for 2022 : 450 backpacks, 350 drawstring bags, 920 pencils, 920 pens, 560 highlighters, 560 erasers, 560 sharpeners, 560 glue sticks, 560 pair scissors, 500 composition books, 425 tape rolls, 350 binders, 285 8-pack of markers, 285 24-count crayons, 165 10-count colored pencils, 100 folders, 75 100-pack of index cards, 50 spiral notebooks, 35 school pouches, 25 dividers, 10 5-inch binders and 300 spinners. Toiletry donations: 350 toiletry items kits (lotion, shampoo, conditioner, soap, lip balm, fingernail clippers) and 350 toothbrushes. Personal hygiene supplies including 20 baby supply kits, 350 hand sanitizers and 9000 masks. Gift cards/toys $700. Scholarships totaling $1000.
